Rural NL Tutoring Project

Learning Disabilities Association of NL has been providing one-on-one specialized tutoring in Reading (the Barton System) to students with Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia) for ten years at our office. The prevalence of Learning Disabilities among K-12 children in our schools is very high. 10,820 students were diagnosed with Learning Disabilities in NL schools in 2018-19. The actual number of children with Learning Disabilities may be even higher as there are many children who are suspected of having a Learning Disability but who have not been assessed. What this means is that there are many K-12 students across the province who previously did not have access to our tutoring program could benefit greatly from it. Through the generosity of the Patten Family Foundation, we have been able to set up the online version of the Barton Reading and now we are able to offer it to rural NL with tuition subsidies. If your child has a diagnosed/suspected Learning Disability or struggles with reading, put your name and details forward by filling out a form by clicking on the above poster. Our tuition costs are kept low (arguably the cheapest in the country for LD specialized one-on-one tutoring) to make this much-needed service accessible to as many people as possible. However, there are subsidies available for those with a financial need.
